Durable, long lasting performance is the foundation of all Pertex fabrics and is never a point of compromise.

From tear strength and abrasion resistance to water repellency and air permeability, our fabrics are subjected to rigorous lab-testing, ensuring that each of them meets the Pertex performance specification. A garment made using durable fabrics has an extended useful live, which maximises the value gained from the materials used in its production.

Our Diamond Fuse Technology was specifically developed to increase the durability and abrasion resistance of Pertex fabrics. Fabrics with Diamond Fuse Technology have 2X the abrasion resistance of comparable fabrics.

OF FABRICS WITH A MINIMUM OF 50% RECYCLED CONTENT

We use both recycled nylon and recycled polyester, most of the recycled nylon that we use is sourced from post-industrial waste.

The recycled polyester content that we use is currently sourced from post-consumer waste,specifically mechanically recycled PET bottles. Using recycled content not only provides a use for waste material, it also reduces CO2 emissions compared with using virgin content.

For 2020, 54% of Pertex fabrics use a minimum of 50% recycled content.

Our aim is to reach 80% of Pertex fabrics with a minimum of 50% recycled content by 2022.

Going forward we are looking at incorporating other waste nylon and polyester streams into our fabrics, including chemically recycled polyester and post-consumer nylon waste. In addition to increasing our utilisation of waste material, we are working to develop bio-based fabrics made from renewable sources such as castor beans.

OF FABRICS USE NON-FLUORINATED 30% DWR FINISHES

Our partnership helps to ensure that we eliminate potentially harmful chemicals from our entire supply chain.

Durable water repellent (DWR) finishes applied to fabrics cause water droplets to bead up and roll off their surface. This prevents the fabric from ‘wetting out’ affecting its performance, which can be dangerous in extreme environments. Fluorinated finishes are widely understood to be the most effective DWR finishes. These are based on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and are able to repel water and oils for extended periods.

We recognise the concern regarding the release PFAS into the environment and the impact which they can cause because they do not break down. For over 10 years we have been investing significant research and development into new high performance non-fluorinated DWR finishes.

For 2020, 30% of Pertex fabrics use nonfluorinated DWR finishes. We are working closely with our partners to completely eliminate fluorinated finishes from Pertex fabrics by 2022.

耐久撥水加工にはPFAS（有機フッ素化合物）を使用することが一般的でしたが、 Pertexはその非分解性から環境への影響を懸念し、過去10年に渡りフッ素化合物を使用しない耐久撥水剤の研究・開発を進めてきました。

2020年時点でPertexコレクションの30%が非フッ素耐久撥水加工となっており、 2022年にはフッ素化合物使用の完全廃止を目標にしています。

Conventional bath dyeing of fabric is a highly water intensive process. For Spring 2022, we are introducing Pertex fabrics with Solution Dyed Technology which removes the need for this process.

Solution dying colours the polymer before it is spun into yarn. Providing a vibrant fabric with outstanding colour fastness. Pertex fabrics with Solution Dyed Technology use at least 50% less water than conventionally dyed fabrics.

CSince 2015 we have proudly been a Sustaining Member of the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA). Our membership helps to fund the organisation support their important conservation efforts.

EOCA has funded a wide range of projects including clean-up operations on a mountain peakin Kyrgyzstan, the protection of brown bears in northern Spain, protection of marsh fritillaries in Ireland and creation of a trans-boundary hiking trail in Macedonia and Albania.

DESIGNED FOR CIRCULARITY

The Pertex® Revolve™ collection is part of our ambitious sustainability initiative. This involves moving away from a resource intensive linear system, towards the circular system of the future.

By evolving into a circular or closed-loop system, we can reduce our reliance on virgin fossil-fuel based raw materials, minimise the waste of resources and reduce the overall environmental impact of our fabrics.

A key part of this move to a circular system is the introduction of Pertex® Revolve™ mono-material fabrics. Composed entirely from recycled polyester, Pertex® Revolve™ fabrics are designed so that at the end of their useful life, they can be recycled back into the resources from which they were made.

PERTEX® SHIELD REVOLVE™

Conventional waterproof breathable fabrics are constructed from multiple different polymer layers — polyamide, polyurethane, polyester and fluoropolymers — laminated into a multi-material fabric. These fabrics are very diffcult to recycle at the end of the product’s life due to the major challenges of separating out the different polymers into their relevant waste streams. Pertex® Shield Revolve™ fabrics are mono-material laminates, each layer of the fabric is made from a single polymer — recycled polyester. A face fabric woven from recycled polyester yarns combined with a waterproof breathable recycled polyester membrane and an optional recycled polyester backer. This mono-material composition allows Pertex® Shield Revolve™ fabrics to be recycled at the end of a garment’s life, keeping the material in a closed-loop.
